Hello, my name is Ronan (Ro)! This sweet boy really deserves a human companion. His owners both passed away within a year of each other, so he’s been sad and has some anxiety (rightly so, he’s had a lot of change in the recent months). The new tenant of the house is letting him stay until he finds a home, but she has little time to spend with him. He’s SUPER friendly and has a big heart. He LOVES people and would probably benefit from someone who works from home at least part time or is just home often. He does struggle with separation anxiety since his owner passed. Ronan would make a great walking/ hiking/ running Buddy and he has lots of love to give. He has a lot of energy, so daily exercise is a must but he does settle down after a few minutes and once he gets to know you. He knows some basic commands and is working on other obedience training with me. He is house trained, fixed and up to date on shots. Still located in Newark, but needs a new placement ASAP.
His ideal new foster or owner would:
-Not have young children in the home (he’s friendly but he’s a big boy and sometimes jumps when he’s excited so could potentially knock them over, working on that).
-If there are other dogs in the home they would probably need to be bigger, again just because of his energy level.
-No Cats in the home
-Live an active lifestyle or have a yard where he could play. He needs daily exercise.
- Be willing to give him a routine and structure
- Be willing to continue his training (I’ve been working with him for a couple weeks and he picks up things fast, but he needs consistency).
- Ronan gets sunburned easily so he would need shady spots in the yard, constant indoor access and occasional sunscreen applications.
If you are interested in giving me a forever home, please contact Erin either by email firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone (510) 209-9894.
